Red hot swinging
jazz & blues
Bio
Experiencing the red hot swinging jazz and blues with Melody Graves and the Hokum Redemption is like stepping out in old-time New Orleans where the feet are stomping to the snappy beat and the blues are as sultry as a smokey bar.
This six-piece Brisbane-based outfit are renowned for their musicianship, energetic live shows and authentic sound.
Featuring not one but two vocalists, a sliding trombone, the rattle of the washboard, the sweetest sounding swing guitar this side of the Pacific, and a rhythm section to boot that's always on time.
You'll also find the band's little sister playing in quartet mode with vocals, guitar, double bass and drums as Melody Graves Combo.
Quote
“Well, it is certainly a name that won’t be forgotten here at the Brisbane Jazz Club. With their slick musicianship, they had us chair-dancing all the way through two sets of toe-tappin’, high-steppin’ songs, from a long list of revered and much-loved greats. They moved and amused us with their ringing, heart-felt vocals and blew us away with those skilled, driving solos”.
